Re: What brand tire did Chevy use?

General Tire was OE for passenger vehicles in the fifties. Not positive but I think they also made them for the trucks up to a certain weight. If anyone has a Salesmans data book for 55 it should tell the tire make.

Re: What brand tire did Chevy use?

I came up with US Royal Truck Tires made by US Rubber in 46 and 59. So most likely 55

Re: What brand tire did Chevy use?

There was no single make of tire used exclusively by any car manufacturer. Back then, OEMs bought from all of the big makers - Firestone, US Rubber, Goodrich, Goodyear and General. It MAY have been possible for a car buyer to specify the make of tires when ordering a car, but I am not sure about this. Most likely they would have been changed by the dealer if this was necessary to make a sale.
