I think that police cruisers that came with 700R4's had a special throttle valve in them so it would stay in 4th at wot. I have no idea on the part number, but it was a stock GM part.
I also found this one. http://www.superiortransmission.com/...mance/k015.htm

so what do you think about something like that link. if i understand right that diffrent sleeve and boost valve itself should let it go into overdrive am i right? i also thought the new servo might be good because i would like some more solid shifts too. but really im mad because i lost to a mustbang one day because it wouldnt shift into overdrive.
How hard is it for someone to put one of these things in? ive never been inside of a auto tranny before, i have rebuilt hydro drives in tractors before though if that makes any diffrence. can it be done in a day with only the basic tools? will the valve body have to come out? thanks

Word from the wise, before carefull installing the Vetter servo. I lost one 700R4 due to a bad installation. That's how I ended up getting my performance 700R4. The band clearance should be checked when the Vetter servo is installed. If it's too tight the tranny won't shift from 1-2. This will kill the tranny. If clearance is to loose then you burn the clutches. I would suggest installing the Vetter servo with the tranny out. Yes you can install it with no problems. I lost one 700R4 and I won't loose another one like that again. Too expensive.
Mike, Thanks for the link. I like that 3-4 upshift at WOT. Kinda scary with a powerful engine. I would like to speed up in OD too. I really hate the kickdown on the part throttle. Installing the valve seems to be a very easy job. I'm still waiting to modify the governor too. |
