58 cab with 55 nose
A while back there was a thread on how to convert the hood hinge mounting holes in a 58 cab to fit a 55 hood. Does anyone remember how that was done or can direct me to that thread?

Re: 58 cab with 55 nose
So here's a follow up question, if I need to relocate the holes, how do I install the bolt plate behind the firewall to bolt on the hinges and what should I use for the bolt plate?

Re: 58 cab with 55 nose
well from what I under stand the bolt holes are on the same vertical line so you could just weld some more nuts on the same plate were they need to be. but here is my question. I just went out and measured my holes and they are 2 3/8 on the top hole and 5 3/4 on the bottom. When I bolt the hood on it sets high so the holes would need to be lower but the measurements I have for the holes on a 55 cab are 2 1/4 and 5 1/8 witch would raise the holes. Do I have the wrong measurements for a 55 cab?

Re: 58 cab with 55 nose
I just replaced three of the welded on square nuts on my radiator support. I bought some square nuts from the local Ace hardware store for eighty cents each and tacked them in place. They are almost exact but a little thicker, and actually look stronger than the originals. The hood hinge bolts are slightly larger than those but the correct size square nuts are available.
BTW, 2 1/4 and 5 1/8 to the center of the hinge holes is what my 57 measures. Last edited by Russell Ashley; 09-20-2010 at 05:24 PM. Reason: add info. |
