70 chevy 06 chevy swap
hey guys,
i have a 1970 project truck i am starting on. i bought a wrecked 2006 chevy 1500 4X4 with a 4.8 vortec. i am using the engine and trans for sure. my question is what suspension/brake components will swap over. i would love to use all the disc brakes and rear end and even some of the front suspension if it is possible. i havent got the 06 yet so i havent been able to look real hard to see what is similar. will any of the brakes and rear end or front suspension be compatible with my 70? thanks |

Re: 70 chevy 06 chevy swap
start measuring... if you could just swap the whole front frame clip (firewall forward) that would be cool

Is it bolt on? No not all. Can it be adapted? Possibly, but I don't know of anyone that has done it.

Re: 70 chevy 06 chevy swap
The '88 and up truck frames and suspension is quite different from the earlier trucks, and not interchangeable. At least not without a lot of work, especially with the '06 being a 4x4. Also the rear differentials are a good bit wider than your '70....IIRC about 3-4". At the very least you would have to run the later model wheels with the deep backspacing.
A while back there was a board member that started to put his '60-'66 body onto a '88 and up frame and running gear. he gave up when he realized how much work it was going to be. It could be done, but it depends on how ambitious you are.
