what gas tank to use?

i have a 1964 chevy truck short wheel base , im currently installing a 2007 5.3 vortec. i was wondering what the best gas tank that fits theses trucks?

I assume you are asking about a fuel tank that is compatible with an in-tank fuel pump?

I replaced my in-cab fuel tank and used a 49-52 Chevy passenger car tank that I installed in the frame. The tank I used has fittings compatible for an in-tank fuel pump. Check out my build thread (in my signature below) for additional data.

CPP sales a very nice aluminum one, it fits where the spare tire went. classicperform.com they are a bit pricey, but one of the best available.

Keep in mind that almost all the aftermarket "kits" hang down pretty low and are visible from the rear and the side of the truck.

Some people have really been displeased with the end result, after the install is completed. It's really a personal thing, and also if you run a rear roll pan and no bumper that makes a huge difference also.

For me the end result is much more aesthetic if nothing is visble from the rear except the rear suspension. Even on newer vehicles many manufacturers are now locating gas tanks, mufflers and spare tires clearly visible hanging down from under the back of the vehicle? Just looks like a poor design, IMHO.

board vendor Dave Boyd makes the cheapest aluminum tanks, also has the EFI pumps... he can custom build or there is usually a group buy going on... check the vendor section.
