How to mount 60-63 Cigarette Lighter?
Ok, I'm feeling pretty dumb. This seems like it should be a simple job. I just received a new cigarette lighter for my '62 C10. It came with 3 clips. See below picture:
However, I don't see how it can mount to the hole in my dash. (Hole on the far right in below picture). I tried slipping the long part of the clips between the casing of the lighter and hooking the clips to the dash, but it just doesn't fit. (and if it did, it wouldn't look too good...) Am I missing a part like a bezel or something? Hope somebody can help! :

Re: How to mount 60-63 Cigarette Lighter?
The socket the lighter goes in is just pushed into the dash hole, and the sheet metal retaining "nut" screws on from the back holding it in place. I assume the clips are probably to hold the wires against something under the dash.
To better clarify, unscrew the sheet metal “nut” #2 from the socket #1. Insert #1 into the dash hole, and reattach the nut on the back. Tab #3 is to attach a ground wire, in case the metal in the dash doesn’t provide a good enough ground because of paint interference. Last edited by markeb01; 10-07-2010 at 10:20 PM. |

You just take the sleeve off that you have labled #2....it comes unscrewed
slip the wire thru the sleeve and tighten it...the sleeve just serves as a type of bolt onthe back......dont let the wire touch anything....its HOT. the clips are just shims if needed....

Re: How to mount 60-63 Cigarette Lighter?
Thanks Markeb01 & Ol Skool !! I figured it had to be something simple... I focused on those darn clips and never realized the sleeve "nut" part unscrewed from the holder "bolt" part.
Now I'm just waiting for my new wiper knob to show up and I'll have a new looking dash. Thanks for helping the newbie.
