Changing Dumbo Mirrors to 89-91 Power Ones
Has anyone done this? Even if the power is not functional, is it a hassle to mount them on a truck that had factory dumbo ones?

from what I have read, you have to convert it by mounting the new mirror and then fill in the holes where the dumbo mirror was. Then swap out or modify your inner door panel if you want the controller mounted.

I'm wondering how they are mounted... that's my main concern. I don't remember how they were on my old Sub.

Ideally you need to rob all the mounting hardware off a set of power-mirror doors. Fill the old holes in your door (which may mean tackwelding some sheetmetal behind the holes), drill the new holes, install the backing plate and mirror. |

let ya know when i get around to doing mine. not gonna do the eletricial just keep em manual. should have to just drill new holes in the door make a backing plate for inside the door skin so the nuts and bolts dont pull through and just weld up the holes in the door from the old mirrors

There is an "S" shaped brace that goes to the bottom bolt also. I think mounting the inner control is just a matter of drilling a couple of holes, and it screws through the back of the panel. The power mirror equipped trucks originally had a unique movable door glass also, that blacked out the backside of the mirror.
