LS dilemma
Hey all Ive come to the point in building my LS where im doubting my decision on going turbo. My hp goal was 800rwhp. As much as i want that hp im wondering if i would be better off just building a natually aspirated LS full of piss and vinegar, keeping it more streetable and a lower hp. After aiming as hi as i did i realized that the rear would have to be replaced with a beefy 9", a massive fuel system, a hardcore 6spd, and some truely custom suspension. As the $$$ went up the project seems like it will take so much loger to complete. Anyone have any opinions or words of advice or anthing at this point would help

Re: LS dilemma
What is the trucks intended usage?
What are your goals? With out a reality check on those two questions, no one will be able to help answer that question.

Re: LS dilemma
I'm sorry, but that doesn't really help..
Is this a drag racing / street truck? Whats the ET goal? Is this a cornering truck? Auto/stick? Is this just a street cruiser that will never see the track but smoke tires? Each one of those will need to be built differently.. Really, the more info you can give us on what you want to truck to be will help us guide you.

Re: LS dilemma
Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE fan of turbo's, but in high HP situations, I don't reccomend them for daily drivers. They tend to add such a huge level of variables that it takes the fun out of a daily. If you are constantly tweeking and tunining on it, you wont enjoy it. You could build a N/A LSX and get in the 750 range at the flywheel easy. If you wanna save a good bit of money, a 6.2 416 can make 675-700hp at the fly wheel all day long. I'd say for the money, build a 416 and put about a 175 shot on it for when you want/need it and not have to deal with the headache of chasing down boost leak issues.

Re: LS dilemma
500-600hp would be a lot more realistic goal for a true daily driver. that would be easy to do with a 6.0L and faster than 80-90% of anything you'd run across. a 6.0, cam, and whipple, maggie or turbo with 10-14psi would easily be in that range and driver.

Re: LS dilemma
X2 or GenIV 6.0L with L92's or patriot heads, cam, bolts ons. 500 cheaper, reliable horsepower no problem. Juice it if you plan to run at the strip.
