fuzzy question

simple question - how does one go about removing the old window fuzzies - and how does one install the new ones?

Looks easy enough, but wasn't sure if the old ones just get yanked and whether the new ones could be installed without removing the glass/door panel, etc. Also want to make sure they don't rattle - so thought it might be wise to ask someone who has already don it.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: fuzzy question

I just did mine last week (along with the vent windows and window channels) and I may or may not have done it the "right way", but here's how I did it.

With the window glass removed I pried the old fuzzies out with a flathead screwdriver. Then I put the glass back in and rolled it all the way down. Then lastly I put the new fuzzies in and made sure the window could roll up/down. It was kinda tight to get the fuzzies in with the window in, but I doubt if you would be able to get the window back in with the fuzzies installed.

Re: fuzzy question

Not a lot to offer, but here is what the 1960 Shop manual shows. I’m assuming the 1964 version is similar.

I’ve highlighted the entries. The fuzzies are referred to as horizontal weatherstrip or mohair weatherstrip assemblies:

markeb01 post nailed it.

Re: fuzzy question

yep, those are the ones i'm talkin about - thanks all for the replies - sounds like not a big deal. sometimes when I start working on something though, it BECOMES a big deal, so figured asking would be a good idea. Apparently it was, lots of great gouge from several members. Thanks again.
