Re: so what about exhaust........
My personal preference is to go with 3" pipe and run true duals with 2 chamber 50 series Flowmasters turned down just behind the cab. The shop truck has the same set up but with MagnaFlow mufflers and I like the way it sounds at idle, almost like a quite open header, but it sounds farty loud when you get on it...... But just my .02

Re: so what about exhaust........
I run DT swap headers into 2.5" duals to 22" Magnaflow mufflers and then routed over axle and out angled past each tire. no crossover pipe (X or H).
It is ver quiet riding around town and at idle, sounds good with some pedal. Most people do not expect anything from the truck with it so quiet.

Re: so what about exhaust........
I was running:
3" X-pipe Dual 3" Warlock Mufflers ended at axle Dual electric cut outs on the Warlocks It sounded awesome, but was heavy and too loud IMO for everyday driving. I now run: 3" electric cut outs right off the header 3" to 2.5" reducers 2.5" turbo mufflers mounted in front of the rear tire This new set up shaved the weight from 62lbs to 30lbs and is much more quiet in the cab.

Re: so what about exhaust........
Is there any benifit to going with 3" pipe. I was thinking of using 2 1/2" pipe off of the long tube headers into some Flo-pro mufflers. I would a nice deep rumble, but nothing to load.....

Re: so what about exhaust........
My old set up with 3" only gained about 10 rwhp with the cut outs open. The 2.5" with turbo looses closer to 25rwhp.. But in all fairness, the 3" was tested with the 347ci motor where the 2.5" system is on the 418ci motor.
