Weatherstrip?
I just picked up a 73 K5 and was wondering where I could get a complete weatherstrip/window felt kit. Any board vendors?

Yea i was thinking of going to a junk yard and tearing off some weather stripping from a yukon and cutting to fit... cost me maybe $20 for this rainy season coming up

Re: Weatherstrip?
They don't have a "Complete kit" however you can piece what you need through their catalog.

Re: Weatherstrip?
I was at a car show today at a local GM dealership. Went inside and they had a garage sale area. One of the items was a weatherstripping kit that they had ordered in for a customer for a 86 GMC pick up. windshield gasket, door seals run channel, window wipes everything you could imagine for a 2 door pick up.
It was marked at 489.00, I offered 120 and they went for it. Ill look at the manufacturers name and post it tomorrow. Seems to be a entire kit. Maybe they will have the same for a burb. Keith |

Re: Weatherstrip?
using the info from kwin we now have http://precisionrestorationparts.com...strip-kit.html for 498.95. The same parts included in the kit could be bought from LMC for 636.90 including shipping and about 30 mins of locating. looks like a good deal. i couldn't find a complete kit for the 73 on either site

Re: Weatherstrip?
i bought a door felt kit (i think it was called) from brothers. the channel felt fit great, and the glass wipers also fit well. i did not have luck with their 1 piece wing rubbers. they are junk as far as i'm concerned. they don't fit properly, and so they don't seal. for my part, i'll say that this was my first attempt at rebuilding wing windows.

Re: Weatherstrip?
hey bud, sorry. i just saw your reply. my burb is an 88. there is much wind noise, and there was much cursing. i'm gonna have to throw the one piece away and try the 2 piece. i really have no other option. what i've got right now isn't gonna work for me.
since i've got you now, i'm needing weatherstrip for the rear cargo doors. there's one around each door and one on the body where the top of the doors shut. i'm not having luck finding them.(although i haven't called anyone, just used websites) thanks! |

Your other option is to try a different brand. Do you remember the bag the vent seal was in? This is the link to our vent weatherstrip for your reference. Call the number and you'll get me http://precisionrestorationparts.com...-suburban.html We sell the rear cargo door weatherstrip. This is the product page:http://precisionrestorationparts.com...-suburban.html Unfortunately I don't have the upper seal on the body that goes across the top. -d

Re: Weatherstrip?
do yours have the little tabs like the factory 88's that bend over and hold the weatherstrip onto the channel the window rolls up in?

Re: Weatherstrip?
You're talking about the front door glassrun weatherstrip, right?. The tab you're talking about is the little metal bracket that attaches to the top of the vent post (division bar). There's a slot that it slides into that holds the corner in place. Some aftermarket versions don't have this, instead they have tape, not sure how well that works, but ours do have the clip. Image attached.
