Brand new Blazer sliders. Who wants some??
O.k. guys, I've got some really interesting news. I found a guy that bought origional tooling for the 69-72 slider windows from an aftermarket window conversion company. He is considering manufacturing slider windows for our rigs. These could be set in glass or plexiglass. I wanted to see how many folks would be interested? I have a ballpark $ of $500 for the new in box set. I really like them, and believe me, I'm first in line. I am going to talk to him this week after I see some responses on the board. I almost forgot to mention that this guy has been doing these aftermarket conversions for cars, trucks and vans since the 70's.

Will they work with replacement weatherstripping? If the economy were better (ie my business doing better) I might be able to consider them.

Re: Brand new Blazer sliders. Who wants some??
Would be interested in the $350 range for a set.
$500 is too steep for me but $350 may not be worth his time. |

Re: Brand new Blazer sliders. Who wants some??
I'd buy some. $500 is the top end of what I would be willing to spend. I would buy 2 sets @ $350.....

Re: Brand new Blazer sliders. Who wants some??
I'd be interested, but that price is up there. Cab sliders are about $140 through LMC and these are about the same size, just a different shape. Then again, I just looked up some conversion van sliders and they are selling at about $200-220 each. So these are not so far out of the ball park. Realistically, I wouldn't need them. There won't be many back seat passengers, and I'm hoping to have it topless with a bimini top most of the time if I can.

Re: Brand new Blazer sliders. Who wants some??
Like others have said, $500 would be the most I would pay. Get them down to the $350 range and I'd be very interested. I would also like to know about the seal. Would it be a one off seal or would a stock seal work?

Re: Brand new Blazer sliders. Who wants some??
I have sliders in my top and yes, the seal is much different than the normal single or double wall seal. The difference lies in the width of the grove that holds the glass or the aluminum slider frame. The slider frame is much wider than a pane of glass. So, if this guy makes the sliders, he will have to source out the seal if he can find one that would work, or have to have them custom made.

Re: Brand new Blazer sliders. Who wants some??
Well guys, sorry it has taken me so long to follow up on this. I was transferred to another office here in town and have been working on getting settled in. I'm going to call my contact here in town and see what we can work out. I'm going to need somr insight on the rubber gasket though. Anyone got any close up pics of the differences?

Re: Brand new Blazer sliders. Who wants some??
Looks like an old thread...but I'll jump in.
If the proper seals were provided with the windows so I'm not stuck searching for more parts,,,,then I'd be in for a set of these windows for a single wall top. |

Re: Brand new Blazer sliders. Who wants some??
Judging by the age of this thread I'd say that the slider window venture went belly up. Thats good because it kept the value up on the set I own! Here is a picture of my sliders as a teaser.

Re: Brand new Blazer sliders. Who wants some??
That would be my guess too. Considering the time and the money involved to tool something up like this, and then consider it's such a small market anyway doesn't really make it worth while.
It's only appealing to guys like me who never take the top off and would like some extra ventalation, and that's an even smaller market. Most guys here run around without the top at all, so this would be a waste of money for these people. |

Re: Brand new Blazer sliders. Who wants some??
I don't totally agree that it would be a waste. I will probably leave my top on for longer overnight road trips, and I'm sure my daughter would appreciate some additional airflow in the back seat.
I realize that this is an old thread...thought I'd bump it to see if there was any life left in it.

Re: Brand new Blazer sliders. Who wants some??
Maybe not for some, but for as long as some of you guys claim to leave your tops off only to install them when it gets cold outside, then I see no need for slider windows for most of you. That was what I was getting at with that comment.
I on the other hand never take the top off. Being a daily driver I have to lock it up, and most of the time in the summer I'd rather run the air conditioning anyway, and of course the top in winter goes without saying So I might find the sliders more usefull than most as there are days I'll cruise with the windows down if I don't need the air conditoning. |
