window problems

ive taken my window regulators and glass out of my doors and replaced the old regulators (less than a year old) that were bent and jammed all to hell.

ive put the new ones in and the window is still stiffer than it should be, but i still have a problem

when i roll my window up to the top its stiff, but goes all the way just fine, i can roll it back down and it works, then i go back up and its fine yet again, but on the second time down like clockwork it jumps off track and jams i have the door back together correctly but i dont know if all the hardware and the door are straight (as in not damaged or bent) what should i start looking at? the regulators are brand new but we have a parts truck here at the shop so should i grab the oem regulator off of it to see if it works?

i would really rather fix the problem im having instead of swapping another regulator and hoping it works.

ps this is the third regulator in the door since i bought it.

Re: window problems

also the glass isnt gm its aftermarket, it seems to bind halfway up the track on both windows, (i just reinstalled both drivers and passengers side and they both bind in the same spot) which is more likely?

a: windows are the wrong shape and are causing the binding

or

b: the vent window braces on both vent windows are bent? they both get used alot but they where stiff when i bought the truck over 3 years ago

Re: window problems

I had a 76' chevy with manual windows, and the drivers side felt stiff and would come off the track occasionally. I got to where I could take off the door panel and put it back on the track in about a minute I did it so many times. It would only come off the track if I rolled it all the way down.

If I remember correctly there was a spot where the regulator assembly was riveted to the door frame that had come loose. I had a friend of mine spot weld it back to gether. I never had any problem with it after that. I wish I could give you more detail, but that's all I remember.

Re: window problems

My guess is that the aftermarket windows are the problem.

Re: window problems

when i changed my font door glass and vents i noticed the old glass is almost twice as thick.
not sure if this would affect the window travel but in mine i'm noticing as it gets colder it's getting harder to get down, and now the inside door panel felt seems to have gone down into the gap/groove some pushing on the glass,i'm gona look at it more in the spring
