Tube Bender
Is there an inexpensive tubing bender that can be used for exhaust pipe? I saw some manual ones on harbour freight along with some tips in the review section to keep pipe from flattening or kinking. Any help with this? I have no idea what It takes, but it would be great to have that capability.

Re: Tube Bender
That bender is designed for pipe much thicker than exhaust. You need an exhaust bender. A regular pipe bender will just smash the pipe. There is no cheap way. The easiest way to build an exhaust at him is to buy a bend kit which will have all sorts of different bends and just weld it together.

Re: Tube Bender
So the whole filling with sand trick on the thin stuff is BS? Just asking because I'm a cheapskate...

Re: Tube Bender
I got this one and use the sand trick on it and works fine for exhaust no kinks. but it has to be packed well with sand. Just don't plan on any tight 90's

Re: Tube Bender
the "pack it with sand and hope" method is a crap shoot ... I'm a cheap skate too and don't like to spend money on tubing and then take a chance ruining it by using Chinese made crap. I'd rather pay someone with a bender and know it will be done properly the first time as opposed to wasting my money on tubing and a half-assed tool and it not work.
that's just me. |

Re: Tube Bender
sorry poor punctuation on my part, i ment with the price on kits you would be wasting time trying to bend yourself
as an example here is a pre bent kit for 120.00 http://www.jegs.com/i/Dynomax/289/89007/10002/-1 |
