What do you all think?
There are these two trucks this dude has and he said one is a 74(i guess 81-87 front end swap has been done on) and other is an 80 and i was wondering what you all think about them. The man wants wants $900 for both but he does not have titles for them and both have no motors and only one has 4-speed trans. Normaly that would be the end of it for me there but I have a 74 super 10 pick-up with a great drivetrain(Built 468, newly built 350 Turbo, and a 4:11 posi rear end) but the truck is a long bed(just not my taste sorry long bed guys) and even worst it is a rust/bondo bucket. I figured I could use then all to build a nice short bed and sell whats left over. Well anyway what do you all thank and do yall think that is to much?
Heres some pics of the 80. Heres the 74 with the wrong front clip and bed.

Re: What do you all think?
I think the bed on the 2nd truck is a 67-72. I am not a 67-72 guy, but you might check on that forum and see what that bed is worth. That could make the difference. Otherwise, those trucks look pretty rough. They have a lot of good parts, but 900 sounds steep to me for something you cant drive home.

Re: What do you all think?
I know around here a good 67-72 short box is worth good coin.
The short trucks are probably 300-350 each. If you chew him down too much and he says yes if you move them, better price out towing for 50 miles. $750 towed home is not bad if you can get $300 for the 67-72 bed. Some options to think about

Re: What do you all think?
It looks like a big project. I'd try to find a decent truck for $900, with a busted motor or diff or trans or something.
Not having a title in California is a big pain in the ass to get squared away, That would be a deal breaker for me, but maybe SC is better in that aspect. |

Re: What do you all think?
No SC is just as bad about titles But my 74 super 10 has a clear title (but is rusted to hell) and i was going to use all three of the trucks to built a good one.

Re: What do you all think?
I only live about 2.5 hours from you so I would expect your prices to be same.... I buy solid bodys all the time for less then scrap like $100 $300 a piece. Some complete and not running. I got a running rust free 84 SWB off craigslist last year with a bad tranny for $500. To me they are parts trucks with no titles. Even tho you plan on using your title.. SO with that being said I would never pay more then scrap value for a parts truck. So i wouldnt spend over $500 for the pair. in my opinion. $600 tops if your really need em.. They are worth more in parts then they are as a whole. that step side 67-72 bed if solid is worth a good chunk.

Re: What do you all think?
I am emailing the dude now and ask his bottom dollar and he is telling me nevermind he can get 600 scrap and they don't have motors and one don't have a trans. I mean 600 really.

Re: What do you all think?
$600 scrap is close but probably a shade high. I think car scrap was .09/lb around here last I checked and I doubt they weigh more than 3000lbs each. If you want the trucks I would offer him $700 delivered and see what he says. If he is willing to haul them off you will never get them for $500 because it it will make more sense to him to haul them.

Re: What do you all think?
He told me before that he will take $800 for them because he can't deliver and when i asked him bottom dollar I think I offended him. So more than likely I won't here back from him.

Re: What do you all think?
Craigslist is the way to go i don't see spending $900 for titleless trucks. The truck i have now was bought off craigslist by my cousin for $300 and he drove it home with title in hand. about 4 months ago. just keep looking.

Re: What do you all think?
Those trucks look a little rough for that price considering the no title issue. Did he call you back?

Re: What do you all think?
That does look like a huge undertaking, first I'd ask myself if I really have the time and the coin to do this, other wise, you'll just be moving rigs from one area to another.

Re: What do you all think?
I would stay away. IMO there's not $800 worth of trucks there. You don't know what they look like under that paint (blue one) and the wiring is going to be a nightmare. (looks like the one really got tore into) You can get the money back out of them if you part out what your not going to use, but for anyone who parted out anything, you have stuff lying around for a while waiting for buyers. Unless you got money to burn, and extra room you're not using, I say no.

Re: What do you all think?
I wouldn't waste your time sit back and wait and just watch craigslist like a hawk. Something better and in one piece will come along that will be worth the trouble.

Re: What do you all think?
I doubt he can get $600, especially without the titles, here no WY will even touch a vehicle without a title. they could be hot or have liens on them, they never know.

Re: What do you all think?
around here most scrap places need a title with the truck, he might not be able to get good scrap prices. tell him you just spent some of your money on Xmas, but you still have $500 delivered
