Re: new kid in the old neighborhood
Welcome to the forum. This indeed is a fun and informative place to spend way too much time! That is a very cool looking truck. Nice body, very authentic and with the deluxe trim. And the radio area in the dash isn’t cut up. What a great place to start. Looking forward to your build thread. Is that a vintage tach or vacuum gauge on the steering column?

Re: new kid in the old neighborhood
thankyou for the welcome and for your reply,it's a newer sun tach that will be coming out soon.i am still tossing and turning on going with a total original paint scheme or going with a modern chevrolet color and match the interior to it,but i seem to go through this every time.

Thanks to you too! It looks like your truck is the chevy version of the truck I picked up today! Yours is in better shape though... Haha definitely a good score

Very nice looking truck. Is that a 66 bed or are those dummy reverse lights?

Re: new kid in the old neighborhood
Welcome to the forum Kent
That's a nice and clean '62 Do you have any drivetrain changes planned? I haven't seen many of these trucks with original automatic transmissions. Especially in the '60-'62 year range.

[QUOTE=kalirodding;4333782]Very nice looking truck. Is that a 66 bed or are those dummy reverse lights?[/QUOTE.........HI KALIRODDING,THE PAINT UNDER THE WHITE IS ORIGINAL AND CONSISTANT WITH THE REST OF THE TRUCK SO I ASSUME THE BOX IS ORIGINAL TO THE TRUCK,THE REVERSE LIGHTS ARE WIRED AND THEY GO TO A VINTAGE TOGGLE SWITCH UNDER THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH.I'VE READ THAT THESE REVERSE LIGHTS WERE CONTROLLED WITH A TOGGLE IN THE SAME AREA BUT I DON'T KNOW.
CAN ANYONE SHED ANY LIGHT ON THIS? |

Re: new kid in the old neighborhood
Very nice '62! Many rare options...she's a jewel. Welcome from Santa Fe, NM. Can't wait to see what you do with her.
As for the reverse lights, they were an option on all years, 60-65, but federally mandated in '66.

Re: new kid in the old neighborhood
All the reverse light's I have ever seen have been on 66 trucks. Yes, that's when they became mandatory. I have see a lot of trucks and even if they were an option, no one ever added them. At least not here in my neck of the woods. I guess you have a rare option. And in 3 speed column trucks, the lights were activated automatically from the switch in the column when put in reverse, I could be wrong though.

Re: new kid in the old neighborhood
jchav62..hi joe,and thanks for the welcome!i was looking for a while to find one with some options, would have really enjoyed air and p.s but thats like looking in the hand that you did'nt wish in.but i was happy to find the custom with auto and a big window.my initial plans were to go completly stock but my last 4 turned into stockers so this one will have a newer chevy metallic color and the interior will change also,at least for now.tomorrow it may change.kent.
