What's it worth?
Ok guys I ran across a truck sitting on secured private property. It's a big back window Swb fleetside v8 auto in "decent" shape with rust in all of the usual areas and likely not running.
This truck has been sitting I know since '06. There is no phone number, it is not easily accessible and I will have to research an find the owner since there is no number on the for sale sign. What is the average value for a truck like this one? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: What's it worth?
You will have to make that determination actually, since it doesnt run, has some rust, been sitting since 06, I would go under $1K.
Oh, BTW, can ya get some pictures? Pictures always help and serves our prime evil need for visual stimuli. OK, we like pictures, there I said it!

Re: What's it worth?
I think those rules are there for those looking to sell things through the forum, not to prevent us from giving advice to someone looking to buy a truck and wanting to make sure he doesn't get ripped off.
That being said, I'd say anywhere from $300-$1500. There are alot of variables that you don't know yet. Like what engine/trans it has, can you toss some gas in it and fire it up, how many patch panels it would need. If it turns out that it needs rockers, floors, doors, hood, tailgate, cab corners and doesn't run at all, $300. If it only needs 3 or 4 patches and could be drive without them, fires right up and has a title $1500.

Re: What's it worth?
Thanks for the advice guys! I have never run across a big window truck in this condition before so I was looking for a little advice. I have bought a running long wheelbase with less rust buy small window for 850.
If this thread is against the rules then by all means have it removed... Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: What's it worth?
No, you're good. The "what's it worth" threads that ARE against the rules are the ones that are; "what's my truck worth? I'm thinking about selling it." Those are obvious attempts to skirt the rules.

Re: What's it worth?
Well In my opinion, if it needs rockers, hood, tailgate, floors, corners, etc etc and it does not run then 300 but if it does run and needs all of those components own it for maybe 5-600. Like said before if it doesnt have extensive rust in it and you can get it to run then 900-1000. That could be around here in kansas though. i bought and sold a 63 big window short bed fleetside that needed rockers, supports inner and outter fenders and a bedside sitting in a barn since 1978. Bought it for $500 got it running drove it for awhile then sold it to my brother. But make sure the motor is free and all that jazz. Hopefully you can get a hold of it!

Re: What's it worth?
You guys must get things real cheap back there. Just a short fleetside bed goes for 500.00 plus. A big window cab and doors with rust, 400.00. A 63-66 short bed frame 250.00. Heck i've sold just the back half of a big window cab with glass for 200.00. A motor and trans is the easy part. Sean

Re: What's it worth?
$300 you guys are nuts! Im in Virgina, The current buying price for scrap steel metal is $10 per hundred lbs. So what im saying, The truck is + or - 4000lb = $400 worth in any condition at the CRUSHER!

Re: What's it worth?
Well where im from which is Hays, Kansas, they are sitting in pastures EVERYWHERE longbeds, shortbeds, stepsides and fleetsides. I even saw a really neat 67 4wheel drive a guy was restoring. Had a factory CB Radio and factory spotlight. A/C cab all the works cool little truck. A lot of them were just old farm trucks that didnt get sold and got put on death row in the trees or fence lines. most of the old farmers forgot about them haha
