Re: need help with trim and paint codes

Please don't think that no one is listening, but this is a tough one.....
I am still looking but so far I have found no 331 or 331A in the paint codes.
.
I would like to say that I am impressed at the condition of your truck. It is very rare to find one this solid.
I would be interested to see more pictures.
What do you plan to do, restore or mod ???????

Re: need help with trim and paint codes

from what i have seen on the internet the anniversary gold's should have "spec" on the trim tag, but i want to make sure before i do anything to the truck. noticed that most paint codes were 700-900 numbers if i am reading them right. i am planning on modifying it a little, already put dropped front axle and installing tubular eng and trans crossmember now.

That is what I am seeing, 700 paint code numbers for 58. I'll go out in the garage and see if my paint chip books are easy to reach and see what I can find.

Re: need help with trim and paint codes

Paint chips for commercial colors 1958, don't show a 721-H but there is a 721-A
a Ditzler number of 21380 Arctic Beige, a very very light Beige.
In your photo it looked like the color of my 58, Kodiak Brown 712A.
Now I'm confused, I have a Duco sheet that shows 721-F, G and H as Pure White,,,,
Dulux code 93-21667, this sheet says the artic Beige is used on the Grill, bumpers Hub caps, tail gate lettering etc. Hmmm didn't look pure white in the picture you took???

If you look at the firewall and the area usually covered by the fenders, it is an off white, not sure if this is its original color though...

Re: need help with trim and paint codes

The paint code says it was white. Now it looks white in that last picture. Why did it look brown in those other pics?????

In that link above my post here........... That is the color chip sheet I have........

Problem is they are only listing the 721-F my other sheets show it as the G and H DASH numbers as well.

Opps, are these 2 different people and trucks, one is blue and the other is black and different posting names???? The blue truck looks like Kodiac brown, the black truck was white.

Thanks for your help. Yes, these are two different trucks with two different people. I'm still a bit confused as to why there isnt a 721-H to be found but I will give those guys a call. Thanks!

Please read my posts.
It is the same color as the 721-F

721-F is the same as ----> 721-G

721-F is the same as -----> 721-H

When you call them they will either say they don' t know, or will say what I just posted.

Re: need help with trim and paint codes

Someone goofed up I guess, there doesn't seem to be any codes like that, you did know that you can buy those data plates and the rivets. It could be someone changed it, and just stamped what they thought it should be. The original color still looks like kodiac brown 712-A, mine is that color.
On here
http://www.c2e.info/rpocodes/gmrpocodes0through4.html
which I did find on this 67-72 site we are now using. Says 331 is "Secondary color"
So maybe the roof was white?? Or ??

Re: need help with trim and paint codes

the data plate looks like it's the original but like you say they could have got it from another vehicle. don't make no sense why it was 331 and all other 58's had them in the 700's.i was just wanting to know the original color before i done any body work and got rid of any of the original color.
