Question about rust on a 65?

I'm familiar with the 67 -72 trucks but I'm thinking about buying a 65 Chevy, the guy has one that was redone quite a awhile ago but still looks decent, I can see some rust spots starting to boil up under the paint in the lower front fender and behind the cab. My question is where should I be looking hard to see if it's a basket case with paint?

The lower front fenders and rear cab corner is common, Mine had only the fenders that had been patched early on rest of the truck was rust free.. Gotta love the dry heat out here. Take a look at these pics of the fenders the make patch panels but the support can be a pain to deal with if it is bad shape.

Look in the windshield eye brow area...above in the gutter area and below the gutter...also leading edge of the hood..

Thats the deal breaker for me, I always check the drip rail and around the windshield. I never could fix that and make it look right. I know other guys that can, but seems like it always came back.

Should there be a layer of seam sealer in the drip rail on 60-66 trucks? I was reading in the 67-72 board about using sealer in that drip rail, but haven't heard much about it on this board. Drip rail of my truck isn't rusty at all, but also doesn't have any sealer in it.

Look everywhere

rockers, cab corners, fender and door lips, inner fenders, floor, kick panels, around the windsheild (inside & out) drip rails

These trucks rust everywhere!

It's not the end of the world if you have to patch a little, but may be some bargaining power

Definately...I used a wire wheel to grind out the old and then layed down the seam sealer .

When you add new sealer, use some of the good catalyzed from 3M

I like the 08308

Works well, but you need a special gun to apply
