filling AD rear seam?
Has anyone filled the seam at the belt line in an AD truck with anything when painting? I'm doing some work on mine and I have the inside apart and I can see daylight through there, a LOT of daylight. That also means everytime I go to wash it water will be getting in too. Looking for ideas for a seam sealer, etc. to be used here but not look like I caulked it...

Re: filling AD rear seam?
Due to a rear panel replacement I had to fill my belt line seam in. So far it has worked well. The critical thing is to minimize the use of filler to prevent cracking down the road.
Here are some pics of my cab. |

I was thinking something along the lines of what the 67-72 guys do in their drip rails, some form of paintable seam sealer, but I'm game for anything.

Re: filling AD rear seam?
I think I'm going to weld the seam. For those who've done this, how do you get it clean enough to weld? I'm almost thinking about running the cut-off disc down it in short stretches, and tacking it - kinda like some others do when removing drip rails. But, I'm looking for suggestions if anyone has a better idea.

Re: filling AD rear seam?
Do you happen to know the brand you used? With such a visible area, I'd rather use something that is proven to work...

Re: filling AD rear seam?
I actually cant remember. It was just whatever the paint shop had for sale. I would go in ans ask the local paint supply shop what they recommend.
