Ok I have picked up this 54 chevy and I want to keep the front axel but it's up in the air to much for me (want it lower). I want to put in a fourlink and coil over setup in the rear with a 5lug rearend.
I guess my question is how do i lower the front and have it 5lug? I want to keep the original frame but dont want to spend big $$$$$ to lower it but i want it done right. Also can i put in a 350/350 combo and run headers? without alot of mods? will steering still work with the old box..etc any help will be great!! ![]() Last edited by matthew.doan; 01-11-2011 at 11:51 PM. |

Re: I have a 54 and need some frame help
Like all projects, one thing leads to another. While you have the front axle apart its a good time to upgrade to disc brakes? Then you might want to consider upgraded steering? I'd suggest going with the drop axle and or drop spindles. Headers might give you a little more clearance @ the steering box, but still going to be a tight fit. Do your homework and ask around, best thing is to come up with a plan. Good luck
