Lowered or Lifted? bone stock orig 2wd '73 Blazer

So here's the deal:
'73 2WD K5 with original paint & interior, lived it's whole life in Oregon. No rust anywhere, drives great, 85K miles. Bought it & shipped it to the west coast of FL, trying to decide to lift or lower it.

Before we go any further, I have a dropped 2005 2WD Silverado SS that I use for family duty & towing boat. Also have lowered '66 Mustang convertible (wife's) and am selling my '64 Buick Special wagon that has rolled on bags since 2000.

Here in my area 4x4's rule & lowered vehicles are the exception. I have had Jeeps, Scouts, & the like but this square bodied K5 really looks good lifted or lowered.

Check out the pix & weigh in. I am not a novice, also not looking for extreme show car looks this time just want to do right by the truck & enjoy my weekends driving a cool truck with my fun kids & wife. I can accomplish this with the truck lifted or lowered. Let me know what y'all think.

(ps I am an ex-General Motors designer so I'm pretty decent with Photoshop)

stock, now:

lifted:

lowered:

I vote for leaving it stock...

They are only original once

Thanks for your input. Though I understand where you are coming from, "only original once" only concerns body & interior, which will remain untouched. Suspension & wheels are bolt on items & can be reversed at any time...

I've always liked 'em dropped just a bit, just about like the pic you provided.
Nice rig, by the way, sure wish I had a full 'vert!!

Welcome to the board!

I vote to lower it.
No 73-82 blazer more cool,... than the full convertible (73-75) models.

Damn that's a nice blazer! Lower it. But I've never really understood why anyone would lift a 2wd.

I vote to lower it, too. I would get it really low, and leave the rally wheels. Then again, I am biased that way.

Welcome to the forum ledfoot. I love lowered and lifted too, but I would lower this one. That truck would look awesome with a mild drop, and a set of 20's. If you really want a lifted truck, get a LWB 4wd truck and sky that sucker.

Re: Lowered or Lifted? bone stock orig 2wd '73 Blazer

Wow, thanks for all the responses. My first thought was to lower it as well. My idea for a mild lift came from living in SoCal, home of the Prerunner. I don't really NEED 4wd, but a lifted 2wd truck looks good, is lighter & handles decent. The drop would be nice too. I need to sell my 64 Buick wagon before I can invest in any mods to this truck, so there's still time to ponder...

hold the phone.....did you say '64 Buick wagon?? You HAVE to post up some pics of that. Those are awesome cars.

Back on topic, I also say lower it. The lower the better with these ultra short wheel based 2wd k5's. Also, keep the stock rallies, they look killer with a good drop and a little wider tire.

Well, since you asked...
The Buick is on eBay right now for $23,900
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=290525410714

Thanks again for all the input, sounds like lowering is the way to go...but we'll see. As you can see, I like them VERY LOW:

I say lower it. 2wd blazers are something to see especially factory 2wd.

personally, I'd like to see some of that style given to that blazer.....BUT.....it's not mine so....

I am sure whatever you do it will turn out really cool. Make sure you keep us posted and take plenty of pictures during the process.
