tps and app question HELP!!! im confused

are the readings for the TPS-throttle postion sensor and the APP-accelerator pedal position sensor, should they be similar at all times??

my 07 tahoe 5.3L, got a code and check engine light is on, so i hookd up the ethos scan tool and i got code for tps and or app. so i monitored the readings for both. truck is drive by wire.

i noticed that the APP reading changes accordingly as i press and release the gas pedal, from 0 to 100%

on the other hand the TPS reading stays at 25% and when i press the gas pedal it goes accordingly up to 100%.

tps lowest reading is 25% and sometimes 18%. at idle
tps lowest reading with the truck off is 23%.

shouldnt my tps reading move according to my gas pedal from 0% to 100%??

im thinking the TPS is bad, but then again im also thinking shouldnt it be over 0% at the tps cuz otherwize it wouldnt stay on at idle, am i right or am i just thinkin too much into this??

im usually hiding out int he squarebody section. LOL

I believe your tps should go to 0. The IAC is what controls the idle, not the throttle. My 98 shows 0 when idling and I believe my mom's 04 does also and it is also DBW.

Re: tps and app question HELP!!! im confused

I had the same problem on my wifes tahoe recently. I cleaned the throttle body and the plug, as well as cleaned the battery cable which had some corrosion. It hasnt done it since. (knocks on wood)

Mine actually went into limp mode in the middle of traffic on the interstate..I wasnt happy. I'd take a drive by cable system any day over the drive by wire

bagged74- thanks, i did the same, disconnected the battery and cleaned the throttle body, i noticed that the wing was almost half open, i dont know if that should be like that, but after cleaning and hooking everything back up, i erased the code, and it hasnt came back up yet, drove from houston to san antonio and back and no code. so far so good. thanks.
