Air Suspension

Getting ready to buy the airbags for my truck and am wondering what bags you guys are using? I am undecided between the Slam Specialties RE-5 or the RE-6. What do you guys think?

Re: Air Suspension

IMO, Slam Specialties makes the best bags. Always go with as big a bag as you can because you'll be able to go with less pressure in it at ride height, making it ride softer.

I have a Camaro clip under mine and went with RE-7s in the front, and have a custom rear suspension and have RE-8s in the rear. Had to do some trimming of the subframe to get the proper clearance around the front bags. Rubbing or interference will kill a bag faster than anything.

Re: Air Suspension

Was told to run HE-6's in the front and sleeve bags from either Air Lift or Firestone in the rear. The reason to use sleeve style bags in the rear because the rear of the truck is light and regular bags would cause it to bounce. What is you imput?

Re: Air Suspension

I have a set of SS-5's. They are a very small bag. I was going to use them on the front of my 59. They can lift a V8 but it takes more pressure with not a lot of lift. I'm sure the ride would be very stiff. 6's are better, however, if you could manage to fit a 7. You'd be happier, less air to get higher lift and a better ride (might have to do some trimming). I have SS-7's in the front & SS-8's in the rear.
