Rear end
okay so i have a 12 bolt non posi in the back of my 72 and I already tried seach. What i wanna know is this okay if i make 450hp. Or does it matter at all. The truck will never be on a strip so i don't think i need the strongest best rear out there. But should i go with a posi or not. If i change the rear end i don't wanna have to change the mounting points either. I just want my horses tranferred to the wheels effectively. Thanks for any insight.

Re: Rear end
You'll be fine on HP. Your transmission is what transfers the HP to the wheels so it really depends on your transmission. Your rear end should hold up. I as well have a 454 in mine with stock rear end and is pretty close to having 430 to the wheels.
As far as the casting numbers I can't find anything about it. Do you know what year the 454 is and what it came out of if it came out of anything? |
