Rear suspension travel with Firestone F9000 bags

I read on the Firestone website that these bags are 10.25 inches fully inflated, 8.25 at ride height, 6.25 fully deflated. If I install these almost directly over my axle what kind of suspension travel will I have? 8.25 - 6.25 = 2 inches??? That doesn't seem right. I think I want them at the axle (1 to 1 ratio) so I can haul heavy loads. I am also wanting the smoothest ride possible with an empty load. Help me understand please.

Re: Rear suspension travel with Firestone F9000 bags

They have much more travel than that I would say 6-8 inches at least. I have mine mounted in a 1:1 set up and they ride awesome. No better bag on the market when used in the rear IMO.

Drew I was just checking out your gallery trying to figure out what you were building. Your shop is awesome! I;ve been in the planning stages for mine, what size is yours, and is the upstairs big enough for a pool table??

My shop is 28 by 36 with an upstairs apartment to house missionary families when they come back to the U.S. The apt. has a full kitch and bath - 800 sq. feet. Across the rear roofline is a nearly full width dormer to give me a lot of 8 foot tall area.

Thanks for the responses, not sure why the Firestone site has those specs.

should be 4.5" closed, 12" open, RH at 9 - 9.5", 1500 lbs cap at 100 psi. This is the bag i'll be using on the back of our JT project.

Re: Rear suspension travel with Firestone F9000 bags

rob is correct the proper ride height for this bag is 9-9.5 don't worry about pressure be it 15psi or 115psi make sure the bag is at the 9-9.5 installed ride height, weight will determine the actual pressure which will vary underload.
