lsx wiring harness
I about ready to get a harness for my 6.0 dbw and 4l80e using all the vortec parts, what I'm looking for is a harness long enough to mount the computer under the dash with a prewired fuse and relay block that require basic hook up, check engine light and ob2 connector, and I will also I will need a computer tune since I'm a running aftermarket cam,I have looked up on site but don't no which one choose

Re: lsx wiring harness
I got a harness from Howell Performance for a buddy's truck. All I could say was WOW. The most impressive harness I have ever seen. They even send you a computer, with your cam specs dialed into it, all ready to run. Plug, it in and fire up. Everything you mentioned is there. We opted for their mesh loom and it looks super cool. I highly recommend these guys!

Re: lsx wiring harness
X2 for Howell. Plus they can custom make trunk lengths to any specification you give them even if you want to hang the ECM off the rear bumper. The cam shouldn't be a big problem for them. Yes, a live tune is better if you are looking to shave off tenths of seconds for 1/4 mile times but for a driver....they can get you pretty much spot on with their base programming and let the MAF do the rest.

Re: lsx wiring harness
Yes, I think they will give you up to 5 feet extra to the computer for FREE. We went the 5 extra feet and in his C-10 we were able to get the computer mounted under his front seat. He made a little plate that holds the computer, relays for fans and fuel pump, and the fuse block. Pretty slick. These guys know their stuff too, excellent customer service.

Re: lsx wiring harness
What about this ebay harness for $500? Why the difference in price? It looks to be the same as what speartech or howell is offering for much less. What's the catch?

Re: lsx wiring harness
if you have a OD trans on it, the price is about the same for those you mentioned.
The one I linked if $499.00 for a harness with trans wiring included. IDK, I am going with lt1conversion.com

Re: lsx wiring harness
The ebay harness includes a PCM, vats turn off and a base tune per your cam specs. I've never seen any of these harnesses so I don't know if the difference in price is based on the quality of the wire/connectors used or what?

Re: lsx wiring harness
I agree with you Shrunken, however if I am going to send $600.00 to someone, I think a rep company such as Speartech or current or lt1 would get my business, I have heard alot of great things about John at Speartech, also about the Nelsons at Nelson performance.
Also knowing what I know now, If I had to do the swap all over again, I would have saved my pennies and did the PCM tune and the custom harness instead of the cheap arse way I did it. ( stock harness converted and stock tune minus vats and rear o2's)

Re: lsx wiring harness
Agreed. Nothing like a company with a good reputation and proven products. I'm starting from scratch so I think I'll call Speartech and ask a few questions. They will be able to point out the differences between their product and cheaper alternatives. Even if it's just customer service, the extra cost is worth it. I'll probably end up buying from them since I've heard nothing but good things about them from multiple sources.

Re: lsx wiring harness
Speartech is a great group, I gotta give them that, also look into nelsonperformance.com
I have worked with them on my tune and it was a pleasure to work with Erica getting my tune done. the truck runs alot better, alot harder ( yea I know, 4.8?) and it gets 20+mpg hwy. well worth it on my side.

Re: lsx wiring harness
Here ya go, not the best, but hopefully it gives you an idea. It came nicely coiled in a box, but I was so interested in it, I had to pull it apart to look at it, lol. Looks like it will be very straightforward to hook up though.

Re: lsx wiring harness
Thanks! I hope to start the swap by the middle of next month, maybe sooner, so I'll let you know. I didn't know about the get together. That sucks because I have to work that weekend.
