body part swap

i got a 1980 2wd chevy. I want to change the front out to the 89-90 dual headlights like a blazer. I know it can be done on 81 ithink and up to 87.
My question is since everything on this one needs replacing, if i buy parts for say an 86 will it work on the 80? If i get the new hood, new cowl, hood hinges, inner fenders and fenders will all that match up so i can order the parts for the grill swap? radiator support will of course be for the blazer, looks like the 89 crew cab grill was the same as the blazers too. thanks

Re: body part swap

Your swap will work, you`ll have to modify the front frame horns for the 81-7 front clip. Also keep in mind you`ll have to use the 81-7 wiper arm assembly under the cowl cause the 73-80 arms are shorter cause it doesn`t require the cowl panel.Other than that it should be a easy swap. Also you`ll have to cut some holes in the cowl for the hood hinges too..

thanks
Pat

Re: body part swap

I was wondering about the wipers and the cowl. One thing i wasnt sure about was the top of the fenders where they meet the cab.

Pat,

What do you have to modify on the frame horns. I have a 76 frame I'm going to put a 86 body on with a 91 front clip...just curious.

The fenders will bolt right up. 80 Stepside was right on.
