Do u have to remove bed to replace the wood?

Will soon be getting a 84 stepside from a fellow board member that needs the wood in the bed replaced. I was wondering if anyone knew if the bed needs to be removed from the chassis in order to replace the wood?

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks
Scott

you don't HAVE to, but sure makes it a lot easier not trying to reach all the bolts (just short of a gazillion) around chassis stuff

Re: Do u have to remove bed to replace the wood?

if you do make sure you have it square be for you start istalling the wood.

I had one that had been hit in the rear after most of the floor had rotted away
and not having the bed on the truck you didnt notice it was diamond shaped.

I had all the body work done and wanted to see what the new wood looked like so started to lay it in the bed and thats when I seen the problem. if I would have got all reved up and got ahead of myself like I do a lot I'm sure I would have had lots of extra hole in the wood

Thanks guys....will be a while until I get to it, and most likely will pull the bed to clean up the frame, rear, etc. but was curious if it was necessary.
