Thanks the motor is being pulled today and it goes to the body guy mid April. Keeping it as original as possible.

Re: 71 K5 Just getting started
Glad to see it's still all original. It has full wheel covers, tinted glass and chrome bumpers . Looks like a clean and rust free one to start with. What are your plans? Are you planning to restore it, or modify it, or keep as is? My 72 CST Blazer is originally from Gunnison Colorado also. I purchased it back in 2001 and drove it back to NC. Took the top off and have enjoyed driving it every summer since. It spends the winter months in the garage. I haven't restored mine. It's mostly original. Would like to restore some day. You have a great start no matter what you plan to do with it.

Re: 71 K5 Just getting started
Hi Big Block,
My Grandfather bought it new In Gunnison. He had a home in Crested Butte that I used to visit every summer. The 71 blazer is the first car I ever drove. When he sold his place in 04 he gave me the Blazer and it has been sitting in my garage ever since. I figured I would wait to restore it until I had the money to do it right. So now it is being restored to it's original glory. My plan is to restore it to almost original spec. Posted via Mobile Device |

I like to see them left original. Yours is so original it would be a shame to see it any other way. Great story keep us informed of your progess and don't forget lots of pictures.

Re: 71 K5 Just getting started
nice to have something so grand to have and pass on. I do not think that these new trucks will ever last like these. Kinda like furniture they just do not make it like they use to.

Re: 71 K5 Just getting started
The base Blazer and Jimmys came with the driver's seat only. The passenger and rear seats were options.

Very cool Blazer and story. I lived in Gunnison for several years when I was a kid. It's a great area I bet your Grandfather had alot of fun driving around the Gunnison Valley in his Blazer.
