Got a tire question for you guys?
Ok guys, I've been lookin at alot of pics and found these tires I like. I've posted a couple pics to show yall what I'm talkin bout. The 1st pic is the best I can find of the tire I am wanting to get. If anyone can maybe tell me the size of these tires and if they'll fit on the stock 6 lug steelies that came on my 1/2 ton I'd appreciate it. (Sorry if one of these is your pickup, I just found the pics on the 4x4 thread)
Thanks |

Re: Got a tire question for you guys?
The first 2 photos are just old school 8 ply mud and snow truck tires.
The last three look like military 8 ply truck tires. Check out this site; http://www.stausaonline.com/military/index.html I am sure some of our 4 wheelin brethern will chime in with more info. Last edited by lakeroadster; 03-18-2011 at 06:54 PM. |

Re: Got a tire question for you guys?
Thanks for the info. Those are definitely the ones I was lookin for but they don't have a price and I'm still not sure if they'll fit my tires. I know they're 15 inches but not sure just how wide they are. Would you happen to know the exact size of the 6 lug steelies that came on the 1/2 ton pickups?

Re: Got a tire question for you guys?
I been running tires like that for years. The closest I think you can get are the Remmington mug brutes If your wheels are 16" the size would be 255r 85 16 in either 6 or 8 ply. Which works out to something like a 33 or 34 by 9.50 or 10. Had them on my Dodge, Jeep Wagoneers, and 85 Surburban and 89 F250. Loved the look and worked pretty good. I haven't bought any in about 6 years. If my 03 F250 had stock wheels I would be running them on it also. They may make a 10 ply but that's only if you want to carry a lot of weight.

Re: Got a tire question for you guys?
Not too sure but may be either 5 1/2 or 6 inches. If your wheels are 15" the tire will be shorter. You can get some Dick Cepek tires that are around that size (33 X 9) in 15" but I'm not sure on the cost. They used to make something like the Armstrong TruTrack which was a great tire in it's day that has the tread your looking for. If your truck is stock you may not be able to go much bigger than a 32 inch tall tire anyway. Would look really cool with tall skinney mud tires. And not too hard to steer.

Re: Got a tire question for you guys?
Thanks again for the info. Right now I'm gonna put just stock looking tires on it but my plan for the summer is to put a lil lift on 'er, some bigger tires, and a 4x4 or 3/4 ton rear bumper instead of my roll-pan. I can't afford a 4x4 so imma make it look like one and use it like one!

7.50X15 should be pretty close.
