Unhappy Truck has the shakes

First post but long time reader. I have a 1984 C10, static drop front and rear, recently had new tires and front end alignment. While driving between 55-65 mph the truck shakes at certain spots. I had the shop check the tire balance and all was good. What can be causing this?

Flat spots on tires? Bent rim(s)? Suspension problems? Brake problems?

Re: Truck has the shakes

did they "Road Force" balance them? sometimes the rubber can have high and low spots that doesnt effect until a certain MPH, also could be a bent driveline

34psi on a 78mm Turbo??? Thats pretty serious!! You need spray to get that thing spinning??

I too have a 2.7, but its not in a ford, and my 2 turbos are MUCH SMALLER. Unsuspecting V8's, and some V10's have no clue

I don't see boost until 3500 when just driving. That isn't full boost either, it's just starting to come in. The car has a 50 shot on it to help the spool. I haven't really had any issues, it'll leave off of the trans brake or via brake boosting from a roll.

Re: Truck has the shakes

call me crazy, hows the U joints in the drive shaft? Had this problem with my 2000 silverado, and it racked my brain but good trying to trouble shoot. Changed out the u joints with new ones, problem solved.

X2. I just had my U-joint fixed yesterday. Anything over 50 mph, and I had this horrible shaking. Would even go away for a few seconds at a time. I just bought the truck a couple weeks ago and the truck has a shift kit in it. So I had a hunch the U-joint might be bad. Sure enough, it was shot. Had it fixed, and then still had a small vibration. I noticed my rear tires were cupped, and I had one front tire that had seperated a little. I replaced all the rubber same day, and now she rides like a dream from the drop off the hammer, to chirping the tires in second, through the top end of the speedo. I was a very happy guy. Long story short, get your U-joint looked at.

Re: Truck has the shakes

Assuming that the more obvious things have been eliminated... balance, bent wheels, etc., look at the driveshaft itself. I have seen them bent by improper positioning of the lift.

Re: Truck has the shakes

Thanks for the replies fellas. I'll check the u-joints and driveshaft since it has a shift kit installed. I got the truck last year and trying to fix the previous owners mess.
