white roof
What was the purpose to paint the 70's models with white roofs. Was it to keep the interior temps down or was there any other reasons. I was just curious.

Re: white roof
Looks.
Not all trucks had white roofs, it was simply an option.

Re: white roof
The white roofs in the 70s were a styling holdover. It began back in the 50s and was kind of a trademark of the Chevy/GMC trucks through the 60s.
Originally it was to reduce heat from building up in the cab. I have a plain jane 77 without a headliner and I get a lot of heat in summer from the dark brown roof. I can see a use for it!! I wonder how it would look? Any pics of our squares with a white cab and dark body color? |
