Taillights / blinker problem.

If I have my headlights on my turn signals do not work. If I turn headlights off turn signals work. My turn signal light lights up in the cab but doesn't blink. Any ideas?

Re: Taillights / blinker problem.

Do you mean that when your head lights are on, the running lights do not work or the actual turn signal?

When you activate your turn signal switch, do the outside lights come on, but just don't blink? I would replace the turn signal relay and see what happens then. If still nothing, you might have some ground issues. Double check all your connections and that all bulbs are good.

Stop lights , blinkers work right when headlights are off. When headlights are on running lights work but brake lights don't get any brighter when hitting brakes and turns blinkers don't work. All is normal as long as headlights aren't on.

Re: Taillights / blinker problem.

My connector for tail lights was cut and wired in. I tested with a
Light tester and figured out that the brown is hot and color combo is left/right blinker but not sure what light green wire is for? Any ideas?

Re: Taillights / blinker problem.

If the relay was bad would it cause the main power (brown to overpower) the turn signal light and not allow it to blink?

Re: Taillights / blinker problem.

sounds like your problem may be in the turn signal switch - it can do some really strange things when it goes south - I just cant recall how the running lights are wired - prety sure its through that switch.
mine wouldnt power the psgr brake surge, but everything else worked. you should be able to chase this up to the column though and determine thats where its
