Re: steering column repair
Look up tilt steering column pivot pin repair. boiling it down to the basics would be tearing down the upper column half to gain access to the screws and pivots that become loose. I've had the pins be worn, but there are 4 torx screws that can loosen also. I usually loctite the 4 screws to take care of the majority of the slop.
It's a job that looks harder than it really is, but it's worth it to have a factory manual at your side to go through the steps. You do need three special tools to do it too. You need a steering wheel puller, lock plate compressor and a steering column pivot pin removal tool. I've seen guys yank steering wheels with bare hands and a hammer or fiddle with the lock plate snap ring without a compressor but having the right tool for the job saves so much in time and aggravation. Even a cheap steering wheel puller and lock plate compressor can be found at habor freight. The pivot pin tool should be a NAPA or CarQuest stores.

Re: steering column repair
From experience I HIGHLY recommend the pivot pin removal tool. Actually agree that all the tools mentioned make the job almost easy compared to the way I’ve done then without the tools. But to avoid damaging the pivot pin the removal tool is almost a necessity.
