'66 GMC rear suspension?

did they change to leafs in the rear for 1966? a friend of mine said he used to have a 1966 GMC 3/4 ton with leaf springs in the rear and I thought from pretty much 1960 - 1972 they all had trailing arms. I haven't had a truck from that year range yet but am looking to get something between 60 - 66.

Re: '66 GMC rear suspension?

hmm, is that just a 3/4 ton thing, I know a few people with 1/2 tons that are trailing arms, just assumed they all were.

My 1/2 ton has factory leaf springs. From what
I have heard, the GMCs came standard with leaf springs and Chvy had coils with trailing arms.

Re: '66 GMC rear suspension?

I guess I'll assume from here on out that GMC's are leafs and Chev's are trailing arms, thanks for the info fellas.

Re: '66 GMC rear suspension?

According to Jolly's site Gmc went to all leafs as of 63 for standard equipment. I believe some post 63 trucks had coils but they were ordered specifically with them.
