Fuel Pump/Sending Unit Question

I have a '51 on a '97 s-10 frame. I've got a 5.3 from a '04 GMC Sierra.

Question : I picked up a different fuel pump to get the right pressure, but the sending unit for '96 and up s-10's doesn't allow you to change the pump . You have to change out the entire sending unit. Would I be better off getting a 95 or older sending unit and changing the pump?

Question : I know a lot of people with these trucks do rear mounted tanks. What would be the best fit in the s10 frame? Has anyone got any pics of something different in the s10 frame? Is the blazer tank the best bet? I just don't want it hanging out under the truck looking like trash.

If you can change the pump on the older sending unit, that sounds the easiest.

Most change to a rear tank here because most of our trucks here still had the in cab tank. I just needed a new tank and wanted room in the cab. If I had a factory tank like yours I would have left it where it was

I built a 94 S10 with a Corvette LT1 350 in it (fuel injected). I believe that I just got the 94 Camaro fuel pump and swapped it into the fuel pump/sending unit setup in the stock tank. It worked out great. So, assuming that the 94 tank is the same as the 96, then I would just get the older style one with the replaceable pump.

IDK about an LT1 but the LS 5.3 will need constant 58psi at the rail to run properly. alot of guys use the walbro 255, IDK if they have one that would fit on what your wanting to convert.

The fuel pump I picked up was AcDelco Part# EP-381 it has 65 psi? I was told it would fit right into the s10 sender, but I don't think they knew about s10's that were '96 or newer.

Thanks for all the answers. I'm glad this many people look at the LSx swap section everyday. I think I'll scour the junkyards looking for a fuel sender from a '95 or older s10 tomorrow.
