Rear springage No more mush
I did a spring athon today. My truck has had the chevy lean and I've already put new springs in front. So today it was time to do the back.
I had an extra set of 4 leafs and a set of 8 leafs. So with three sets appart I picked out each spring that had the best arches and made up a set. I used a third leaf and cut off the spring clamp to fit as the fourth spring. The 8 leaf pack had one spring that I used for a fifth spring. I left out the flat overload spring as it would not be performing without a super sized load and just be adding weight to carry around. I found the arches different from spring to spring. My weak set the main had a poor arch, while the second and third spring were better than my extra set. A lot of work but she sets much more level (left to right) and I gained about 1.5 inches. So now with the flip kit I have 4.5 inches travel from axle to frame (Bump stops removed). I may lower it a bit but this time with a spacer block as I don't want to give up the payload. Next is a small front spring mod. Last edited by 1LowToy; 03-31-2011 at 09:36 PM. |
