Im new here and this is my 66 shorty

I just wanted to show the newest member of my family, and say hello to the C10 faithful. Let me know that you all think. Hey did you see the curtains.

Re: Im new here and this is my 66 shorty

Thanks you guys. Of course I do have plans. 1st the camper is history and the wiring is a nightmare, a total splice and dice birds nest everything is going a complete gut. Next are the brakes, 6 to5 lug power discs front and new rear drums. Then wheel and new tires, the tires dated 5-92 no kidding almost 20yrs. that should keep busy for a while. I will post pics of the process.

I would rethink he 6 to 5 lug conversion, I converted mine to 5 x 5 and wish I had not, there are a lot of nice 6 lug wheels and tire combos that are available I used a 91 burb front crossmember which you could use also but it will only cost you $200.00 to go with new 6 lug drop spindles, you will pay the difference later trying to find 5 x 5 wheels JMO

It would be a shame not use those stock wheels and hubcaps. They look perfect on that truck IMHO.

Thats the oddest advice I have ever heard. Maybe if your stuck on stock wheels and caps, but certainly not in aftermarket. There a gazillion wheels out there in 5x5 pattern. Trying to find a 6 lug wheel with the correct backspace is much harder to locate.

Regardless, the 73-87 disc conversion is the best bang for the buck.

That is a very nice, clean and straight looking truck. What does it have for an engine and trans?

Re: Im new here and this is my 66 shorty

I'm with Glos55, slam it and keep the camper! (I'd never do that, but I'd love to see someone else do it!!) All kidding aside - that's a sweet truck, with or without the cap.

Regarding the comments on the 6 vs 5 lug stuff, I know folks are divided on this, and I fall on the 6 lug side of the fence - I agree with keith, there's lots o 6 lug wheel options. I never dreamed I'd prefer 6 lug, just seems like blasphemy for a guy that grew up with 5 lug cragars on old bel airs. BUT, I've seen the light, and I personally prefer the 6 lug on the trucks. But what I think doesn't matter - all you should do is pick the wheels you "must" have, and that decision will make your 5 or 6 lug question elementary...
