I don't have my factory assembly manual in front of me, but it might be listed there if you have one

Re: need a measurement from a 72'
I can get you the location of mine tonight when I get home, but Im not sure how "correct" mine is... I copied the location from my original windshield to the new one, but it may have been incorrect to begin with.

Re: need a measurement from a 72'
The mirror is 3 1/2 inches below the rubber weatherstripping so you may want to glue the button 1/8 of an inch below that to allow for the mirror bracket to attach to it. My truck is a factory original but I can't be sure the PO didn't change the windshield at some point in time.

Re: need a measurement from a 72'
The 'button' that the mirror attaches to (my mirror is removed) is 2 7/8" down from the molding to the top of the button; a smidge over 4" to the bottom of the button.
Disclaimer: The windshield has been replaced once in the 34 years that I have owned the truck. My glass guy is a real stickler for detail, so the button is probably in about the same location as before.

I hate having the mirror in the factory location way too big of a blind spot I always try to go as high as possible.
