Trucks without inner fenders....
I am thinking of removing the inners on my suburban to help with clearances and am thinking about the pros vs. cons of doing it. I am not too concerened about anything in perticular but would like to hear if anyone has an opinion or previous experience that could help me make up my mind one way or another. It rubs now once in a while but it will be on air soon and it's only going to get worse.

Re: Trucks without inner fenders....
Rain, sleet, snow, salt, mud and crud covering your motor are the cons. Combine that with your tires throwing small projectiles at the bottom of your hood, and it doesn't make for the optimum choice.

Mine are out. Dirty engine and you gotta watch your clearance to your blower motor, the tire likes to grab it. I'm on my fourth one I think.

I don't drive it in the winter, at most it would see a little water. I do run a stock air intake system that derives it's air from in front of the core support so that should not be an issue. Hmmm.... Would a set of trailer fenders welded in be a decent compromise?

Re: Trucks without inner fenders....
Well I DO end up changing my air filter quite often and my hood started catching turbulence from the extra air coming up under the truck. It shook so bad I installed hood pins to keep the front corners down. Its fine now.

Re: Trucks without inner fenders....
I don't have em, and only drove about 1,000 miles over the summer/fall. The firewall was pretty dirty even though I didn't drive in any rain...just hitting anything wet on the road will do it. My hood shakes too, but thought it was because of the lack of a stop on the driver side...if it is turbulance, I don't think a trailer fender will cure that since it's pretty wide open on the inside, but I still plan to put some in when I get to that part...but it's one of the last things I'll be concerned with.
