What I did this weekend....
I found someone that would run my exhaust for my Jimmy this weekend. Took it to him Saturday morning and told him I wanted 2" off the manifolds into 1 3" and flanged ABOVE the crossmember and then 3" back to the rear axle with a Dynomax UltraFlow Round muffler. And I wanted it all above the bottom of the frame rail. I haven't ever used this guy before, (and won't again) but I thought this was pretty self explanitory. Well he couldn't start on it until later so I gave him my number to call if he had problems. He didn't have the Round Ultraflow (or any Ultraflow's for that matter) so I went to find one. I told him if I wasn't back by the time he started to just put a Cheap POS 3" muffler on there and I would pull it off and replace it later. Well an HOUR after they are going to close he calls to say come pick it up. Upon ariving they were taking it off the lift. He put NO muffler in there (no big deal, but geeee) Well I crawled under it and found that they put the pipe to close to the body (no way a muffler is going there... and I was too pissed and just left.

I hear ya chris. They either want way too much money or they completly screw it up. I had to go back and have my right side exaust re-done because it hung too low, and I was scraping baking out of my driveway. I wish I had a tubing bender and could weld

Capt, I'm not sure what exactly he does. I know him through a mutual friend in Rowlett Tx. I know he just had 4-wheel air installed by my friend here locally last year & then he had someone around his area slick the under hood area & cut up the front wheel tubs to raise them for clearance while maintaining a factory appearance. He's been working w/another guy toward the end of 02 w/the LS-1 install when I last saw him (he came up to visit & went to the GoodGuys show in FtWorth).
Black suede blazer, blue interior, Famosas.

I feel for you man. I know exactly how you felt and wanted to say to them. It sucks big time. It seems to me, this is one of the hardest things to find, a decent muffler shop. It's like they don't understand how much love we have for our trucks. They just don't care. They run the exhaust like it was a regular passenger car. That's not good enough.
On a side note, no way I'll let these idiots work on my exhaust if I'm not right there watching their every move. Man stuff like this really pisses me off. Sorry to hear of your mishap. I bet they weren't cheap either, right?

They guys here in town are just asses. They do good work, but they cost an arm and a leg for the littlest crap. They take forever too. We need some decent mechanics around here! Sorry to hear about it. That stuff always sucks.

Hey, welcome to my nightmare. business men that know everything and us guys that atually know our $hit . know nothing.
I took my RV to a guy that does 3". told him the old 2 into 1 deal. blend both into the 3" smooth. I come back and the the crossover one is 1" off the bottom of the tranny pan. I dind't ask for a tranny fluid overheater! I got friggin 12" of ground clearnace there to play with. and it also enters the other side at a 60* angle at best. is that smooth?? now let me tell you about the guy that just cut my crank .020x.020 when i specifically said cut .010x.010 and if there are any imperfections at .010 I accept that.had my phone number still hanging from the end of it but my phone never rang. or the guy that turned my Elcamino into a piece of red sandpaper because he painted it outside!! after he told me that he rents a booth off a friend. It took me 3 days to block that grit out.WTF oh don't get me started. feel better now. I need some rest . beer-0-clock aint it ? DAVE anyway this is the 'new' one . don't fight over the hubcaps ya'll.

I hate people that claim to do one thing then do another. It pisses me off. Why BS someone? If you can do it and do it the way they want then everyones happy. You just dont mess with a mans truck like that, you just dont!

That's them..... . The rambler is very driveable. S-10 rear end, 4-whl air ride, 17" torqthrust 2's. He color sanded the paint just before GoodGuys & buffed it out, got some new bumpers & then slicked up the air stuff for the trunk so it's much cleaner. We pulled into the show (him & Ken in the rambler & his sidekick Roger & I were in Rogers 63 Fairlane)... he pulls through the parking lot....gets out & before we walk 2 f'ing feet the show reps come over & tell him he won an award . ... 'cause it's just cool'. It's got a black-n-white pic in the Goodguys Gazette. Keiths talking about 18's & 20's now.
Ken checked out my 74 while he was there @ the shop & thought it was one of the cleaner ones he's seen (which made me feel like I got a good deal on it). I usually go by the shop on Wed or Sat's & hang out. I'm trying to squeeze my 67 in there for finishing but they're kinda busy. Small world.

It could partially be blamed on me. As the guy I wanted to do it I couldn't get this past weekend, but could NEXT weekend. Impatience won. I won't be using the other people again though.

Capt, I would make those arsholes change the starter for free when it goes out.
Looks like you will have to lift the engine (!) to get it out! My take is best explained by this: I have had a vehicle worked on by a mechnic once in my life. That was before I had a welding machine and I had to have some tubes mated up to header collectors. That is my total time with someone else working on something I have to drive. You think I trust 'em or what? |

Yeah Mike, don't remind me. Like I said, I was PISSED! Oh well, chock up another one for live and learn.
SCOTI Yeah he sent me the pics after colorsanding an buffing the drivers side and complaining about it looking so much better he had to do the other side. SWEET ride it is. I wasn't aware he got an award for it. (just emailed him about that) If Ken gives your 74 a thumbs up, I would definitely take it as a compliment. Tell Keith I hear he is ahead of me on the number of vehicles again. I have reduced my flock...

He is supposedly going to put his blue 84 back together & sell it. If I could afford to, I would buy it. Clean, clean, clean.... His 00/01 is one of the nicer trucks running around this area. It's not as low as others I've seen, but he is getting older..... I'll BS w/them tonight.

Yeah Ken told me about that. I told him he should step up and get it. He has been wanting a clean Fleetside. His 01 is sweet also. I got the bagged pics of it after it was done.

I guess I better drop in here and defend my honor! I haven't been around for so long, people are starting to confuse my trucks with the Captkaos fleet.
LOHRTBT-Dang Dave has it really been that long? Yes, my never to be finished Blazer is the one with the LS1. "Someday" actually starts now. If I can get the shop to finish the core support in this century I will do a pee-pee dance. SCOTI- Yeah, it's me he's talking about. How is that sweet little 74 coming? Keith said you put it up, and your back to driving the beater. What's the status on the 67 these days? BTW-I plan on coming up in April for the Dust-Off. Captkaos- I told Keith I would have to sell my 97 before I could look at his 84. Well, I sold the 97, so maybe in April, I'll take another look at the 84. I would love to have it, but that's all I need is another project that I can't get worked on. low 84- What's up buddy? It was a real pleasure to meet you face to face this weekend. Sorry I couldn't stay and BS a little longer. So my voice was gone, and my wife was *****in where were we, so I figured I better catch you guys on the net. Tell 5/8 I wasn't being rude, just had to get my wife (and Keiths) off our butt. Swervin- How have you been Mike? Haven't talked to you in a coons age. You still hangin in there...
