Howdy...
Hi everyone, my name is Paul and I just bought a 66 Long Bed for my 11 year old son Logan...Hence the user name...At this point he still has a Vega Wagon I bought him but its now for sale...We decided to build the Truck instead since it should be cheaper and somewhat easier...He will be doing a complete Frame Off and will learn everything from Bumper to Bumper...I'm building a second gen Camaro for my wife Audra and was directed here from nastyz28 where we're known as rockermomshotwheels...We just move here to Texas from Michigan...
I have a 65 Rambler that I restored so now its their turn...I'm a Dispatcher/Jailer in Fredericksburg and love building cars and trucks...Here are some pictures, I'm sure you can figure out what is what so here they are...Oh and I'll get better pictures of the truck when we get it home...These were taken the day we went to look at it... |

Re: Howdy...
Welcome to the forum. That first picture is timeless, a real diamond in the rough shot. It’s always nice to see someone bringing their kid(s) into the hobby. I started in the garage at about age 5, and my sons started about the same age. Growing up that way makes it easy to develop mechanical engineering skills.
Your Rambler looks great. I remember when a local guy bought a brand new black 1963 two door Ambassador with the 327. I thought it looked fantastic with the then-new curved side windows and tight body package. Good luck with your projects. |

Welcome aboard Paul! That's great that you have your son to help you out. He'll be loving that '66 even more the day he gets his license.

Re: Howdy...
I think it's awesome that you are teaching your son this stuff. My son is 12, and I would love to have him help me, but he isn't really interested in fixing cars. He'd rather be riding his bike or playing basketball.
I have the exact same truck, and I love it! Yours looks to be in a little better shape than mine though. |

Re: Howdy...
Welcome aboard! Nice rides too. I can see where you get "rockermomshotwheels", I have the same wheels on my S-10. People really get a kick when they notice the centercaps have the Hot Wheels logo on them.

Re: Howdy...
Welcome to the forum Paul
That's great that you are teaching your son how to work on cars and trucks. Does your wife get involved also? I did that with both my son and daughter. My son and I still get to enjoy some father and son time working on his vehicles, and he's 30 now. Keep us posted on your progress.
