1983 dash panel swap

what years gauge panel will swap in to this 1983 chevy truck with no modifications

1979 Chevy 1/2 ton long bed diesel
1974 Chevy crew cab short bed 3/4 ton 4x4 project
1991 Chevy suburban 2wd
1984 Chevy suburban 3/4 ton 4x 6.5 detroit with turbo
1961 Chevy pickup 1/2 ton 2wd
1975 gmc crew cab short bed 2wd

79-89 should work, as long as there is a VSS hookup on the back of the speedo head. Some 90 models will work also, the 4wd 90's used the electric cluster that all R/V trucks used in 91. The 89 models will have a trip odometer, 88 may also. I am almost positive that the cluster in my '79 had a VSS, but I don't 100% remember. The newer gauge font started in '79.

ok how do you test a tach dash to see if its good?

Just hook up the 3 wires to the tach. It stands alone.

ok now standing in someones driveway how do i test the dash to see if its good ?? if i owned one it would be easy to just hook it up.

i want to put a tach dash in to a truck im thinking about buying and i know where a tach dash is i just do not want to buy one that doesn't work

your gona need three long wires
power and ground and spark
if the 83 has a hei ign the cap is marked for the Tac wire
and then to batt +and -
i've heard they are marked on the back where to go,but not in my pics i can see
(some are even marked weither it's 6 or 8cyl)
