LS with Fast Ez-efi?

As stated looking to see if anyone has done this. I was going to go with a carb to stick with the old look, now I'm thinking about Ez-efi. Wasn't for sure if it's compatible with the edelbrock ignition setup that comes with their intakes.

Thanks in advance!

Re: LS with Fast Ez-efi?

Not sure about the edelbork one but my msd 6010 will work with it i am told. My ez efi master kit should be here on wendsday to put on my carbed 6.0. It is the one in my sig. A few people on ls1tech have it. Not many of them run yet do to still building cars. Got mine from summit cause they price matched atlanticspeeds price.

That's sweet! Let me know how it goes and if you run into any problems?

Any one else?

Re: LS with Fast Ez-efi?

I really dont think anyone else has it or would even consider anything other then whay gm put on it. Just doing a carb seems like you joined the dark side. Some people on ls1tech.com have done or are doing it. Tons of people on a corvette fourm have done it on older engines for get the name of the site tho.

I know what you mean about that. A few friends that I work with think I'm crazy for wanting to do this. I might have to go look around on ls1tech...

Re: LS with Fast Ez-efi?

I had a thread about a 383 or a carbed 6.0 and 90% of the responses where Why would you downgrade to a carb and so on. Sure the factory set up is the best for milage but driving it looks out of place to me sometimes. Need big aluminum intake under masive steel hood.

Re: LS with Fast Ez-efi?

Why not go with and edelbrock efi intake and a 4150 style TB? I am going to go that route, and it can still be run by the stock computer. Other than the fuel rails it gives it the old school look with modern day mileage.

I don't think it's downgrading! Their making some serious power out of them! I could go either way (carbed or stock) just depends on how I was building the truck.

The main reason I am going with a carbed intake is to stay looking old school with the modern engine, so injectors and fuel rails won't look right to me. I was going to just run a carb, but this last weekend I played with the FAST Ez-efi and it's pretty sweet! Might still run a carb for a little bit, but I do plan to get the FAST set up. I was just seeing if anyone was already doing it.

Re: LS with Fast Ez-efi?

Well the easter bunny left this for me today. They sure put some time into laying this all out. The throttle body is a piece of art the harness is amazing and the tech. they put in it is superior. Cant wait to install it. I got the master kit that comes with everything you need like hoses, fittings, pump, relay and harness to pulg into the efi harness so no need for any wiring on the pump. Also a regulator and fuel filter. Just amazing.

Re: LS with Fast Ez-efi?

Hope i can install it befor the end of next month. I need to with gas prices the way they are. Hope my factory retun line will handle the flow. The return side just uses hose clamps so not thinking it will be a problem.

Re: LS with Fast Ez-efi?

Yes....The other day when them tornatos came thew i was sitting in closet and was playing with harness and conected the harness to the ecm and the t/b. I figured out how to wire it in. Trying to find out if the coolant temp sensor for a lq4 is the same resistance as the one in the fast kit. Other then that no.....

Re: LS with Fast Ez-efi?

Got to install my ecm today. I wanted to put it inside but i could not due to size of hole i would have to cut to fit harness threw. I put it on pass side fender betwen the batt and coolant resivor. Was the best place i could see to put it that would not get it soaked when i went threw a puddle. Also found out that the factory coolant temp sensor that comes in a lq4 is the same resistance as the one that came with the fast kit so that means no adapters are needed. It even plugs into the fast harness. Only 7 bucks too!

Re: LS with Fast Ez-efi?

the edelbrock ignition driver should work. i'm working my way to using the mpfi retrofit kit myself. i've been talking back and forth with the tech dept at FAST and there are guys out there using the mpfi kit with the LSx's and they are using the ignition drivers. there shouldn't be a problem with the edelbrock ignition driver, infact i think its an msd unit

MSD does make the edelbrock controller. The only diff is you can program the msd timing curves. And the timing chips are not the same curves i beleve. I talked to the msd tech and they told me it does put out a V8 square wave signal whitch i beleve is exactly what the fast ecm is looking for.

Perhaps I am biased, but this looks good to me (Other than the rusty old headers).. IMO I'd loose the coil packs before the fuel rails.

Thanks.. The next engine bay clean up thing for me will be relocating the coilpacks and running a sheetmetal alum valve cover. Just need to find time.

Re: LS with Fast Ez-efi?

It's an Edelbrock dominator TB that is said to flow 2k CFM. I really want to get a dominator Intake but there is only one on the market (it's a very nice piece but I can't justify it right now).

Re: LS with Fast Ez-efi?

I have, er, HAD one on my 402. I was never that impressed with the overall characterstics of this system. I have been down the EFI road in the past and always gravitate back to the E'brock 1904 carb and the HEI. It always runs best with that setup. I've been there and done that. To all of you who love them I give you a thumbs up. It IS a nice product,,....but it is not for me. Some things are better left untouched. The Gen IV engines are just not efficient enough for this setup..IMHO

Next time (and the last time to boot) will be an LS6 transplant.
Gonna run what is supposed to be injected.

At least my carb wont fill the engine with gas when the pintles stick open and wont leave me stranded when the ECU takes a s**t!

Bud
