Dumbest thing you have done to your truck
I thing the dumbest thing I have done was cut up my glove box door about 15 years ago. I had the idea to use a glove box door for a gage cluster. I was going to cut holes and arrange gages similar to stock but with autometer gages. Why did I do it to the original door, I will never know.

Re: Dumbest thing you have done to your truck
About 20 yrs ago I cut some A/C holes on my non A/C dash and never put A/C in it.
I guess when the vehicle is not so old that you can easily get parts or find them in salvage yards, you don't think of them as valuable. |

Re: Dumbest thing you have done to your truck
How about the dumbest thing you've done WITH your truck?
Last night I was pulling my boat dock up the hill in my backyard to I could get it lined up to push into the lake. I had nobody spotting for me. On the last pull I felt resistance and like an idiot I just pushed harder on the foot feed. When I got out the forward dock feet plowed a 20 foot long furrow through my grass. I've done less damage with a chisel plow.

Re: Dumbest thing you have done to your truck
How do you know a paint and body man is lying.....his mouth is moving!
Doing an 1989 throttle body/700R4 conversion in my 72 Suburban and using the complete 89 harness....spending hours and hours tracing wires and making the 72 truck work on an 89 harness. It turned out great but was not worth the time. Doing a truck built around an original 68 low mile engine and thinking it would hold up after the truck was done and it was being used as a driver.

Re: Dumbest thing you have done to your truck
I have done more than one for sure. I guess the dumbest one was to take a plain Jane '67 3/4 ton long step-side mostly unmolested truck apart to make a short bed stepper that is made up of at least 6 different year trucks.
I hope to be able to say some day that it is drivable again, everybody has to have a dream, lol.

Re: Dumbest thing you have done to your truck
Right after i bought my 92, i cut the exhaust right off about 3 inches after the Y-pipe, thinking it wouldn't be so loud. my girlfriend hated it when i gave her rides home that week.

Re: Dumbest thing you have done to your truck
Threw away the original rear A/C unit from my Suburban. It probably still worked too.
Luckily I didn't have enough experience or money to pull off the kind of modifications I wanted to do to it as a teenager so there is less to regret now. Back then I did neutral drop on accident once which snapped the transmission output shaft in two....
