Poor boy A/C

All this talk about A/C and I have been thinking, why could'nt one use a mister inside the cab of their truck to cool it (in hot dry climates like Arizona)

Outside patios at restaurants have them when it's hot, and it seems to help.

Maybe it's a dumb idea?

I would think if there was even one scratch on your paint it would rust, have you thought about a swamp cooler? same principle but hangs on the window.

Even swamp coolers are a problem. I live in Colorado, they installed (2) large swamp coolers in the fabrication shop where I used to work. Everybodies tools started to rust and also all the steel and sheet metal plate started to rust.

I have looked at those, they are fairly expensive, or at least the ones I have seen for sale.

could install a mister next to the hot tub in the bed...
(i must admit, I've never thought of this idea! good on ya. but I agree, it might accelerate the rust - and i can't imagine it'd be good for interior fabric, etc)

My old boss was telling me of one of his family trips down south in a 56 Buick Roadmaster Riviera. Said he'd buy a bag of ice, put it in a plastic pan, open the foot vents and Voila, a poor man's air conditioner. Also recommended a bag of water hanging off the front of the car in case, of the car breaking down, then the family.

I don't know about rust, it's so dry here (until the monsoon season) that moisture just evaporates away.

Also, my truck is no thing of beauty, and I'm not that concerned with rust, or the fabric, it's just a driver.

when i was a kid, we traveled from North Mississippi down to Orlando, FL to Disney World...we made the trip in my dad's old '64 short/fleet...it had an old camper top on the bed...we put an air mattress on the bed floor, & that's where me and my little bro rode for much of the trip...we also had two small electric fans mounted in the upper corners of the camper top, up above the front bed panel area...i wonder if it would do any good to mount small fans like that, one in each corner of the interior cab roof

Swamp coolers are only efficient in hot, dry climates.
If you try to use your swamp cooler in a humid climate, you will only add to the humidity of your vehicle's interior.
Depending on the outside temperature, your swamp cooler will need to be refilled with water every 30 minutes or so.
To keep your cooler operating efficiently, the cooler pad must be changed or cleaned periodically.
