4l80e id help?
I got a deal on two trans. One i will use for my project, the other i want to get rid of. Is there some # that i can use for id'ing what year it is from? The 4l80e is a 4x4 one with the driveshaft thing attached (brainfart can't remember what it's called).

Re: 4l80e id help?
What is the other trans?
The driveshaft thingy I assume you mean the yolk? Is your project a 4x4? The 4l80e out of a 4x4 in a 2wd may not work easily since you would need to change the output shaft.

Re: 4l80e id help?
No the other trans is 4l60e that i am keeping for my 2wd project. The 4l80 is the one i want to sell. I just am not sure of the year it is from. It still has the transfer case attached (i think thats what it is called).

Re: 4l80e id help?
I'm going out on a limb with this, because I tried to ask a similar question when I went to find my 4l80e for my swap. I was under the impression that the top bolt hole may be absent on a trans that would have been behind an ls engine, since that top bolt position no longer exists as it did on the older blocks.
