Horn help
I'm finally getting around to working on the truck again. But I/we can't figure out the horn button. I ordered a new horn contact kit from LMC and have a button. The steering column is a van tilt, but I used the steering wheel off the original column (Its a '68 by the way, if that matters). The problem is the horn button is VERY loose in the retainer. The button has a groove where it appears an O-ring or something should be. Am I missing something?

Re: Horn help
It's possible that you don't have all the parts you should. Mine is a '72, so I can't speak directly about your '68, but if the removable button is fitting snug into what looks like a miniature washing machine drum, and that whole assembly is just very loose, I think you may be missing a circular, tin plate that provides the mechanical "pop" that you get when you push and release the horn button....just a guess though.
Pics of what you do have would help others help you. |

Re: Horn help
Horn Button meaning the thing you push on? If so, it should have a big rubber ring on it with a tab to align it.
IF the steering wheel is a '68. ![]() If you mean something below the push pad, I've got pics of the 'guts' under the button. If your horn button looks like the following, then it's a '69 or newer with no rubber ring. Last edited by ETsC10; 08-14-2012 at 12:38 AM. |

Re: Horn help
The pic of you holding the button REALLY helps. It looks like I'm missing the big rubber ring on the back of the button. Anybody know where I can get one of those?
