Would be a great addition to the FAQ page.

I am trying to validate my paint color. Tag says it is 525, Fawn. But my primary paint color looks lighter. Any help on what the lighter color is?

The tag says what it was originally. Though not too far off from fawn, it's anybody's guess what colors were chosen for the repaint. might have even been mixed by eye.

I didn't think they offered that many interior colors.

ttt - I have the same question... I'm assuming the big trucks may be included in this list, but not sure. Personally, I thought a 65 was fawn (without the 66 dash crinkle finish) and white door panel centers. But, I have seen what I "thought" were original tan interiors on a 65 (only a few) and don't see it listed at all. Hmm. What IS the correct 65 interior color?

Jocko , its still Fawn. What that chart fails to explain is those interior colors are for the Vans only. You could have ANY color you want in C10-C80 as long as it was FAWN ! Heres some of the graph I posted in the other thread.

No , the 65 Data book does not have that chart, just the 1966 data book. 65 states the same thing though , fawn was the only color for interior on C10-C80.

Re: Dupont automotive refinish colors 1965 Chevy & GMC

IMO, it was an error on GM's part for not being specific enough on names of colors, especially on interior colors. Some literature says interior color is fawn, some same medium fawn some say fawn metallic some say medium fawn metallic. The '62-'66 interior fawn ( I believe correct name is actually medium fawn metallic) is not to be confused with exterior colors used on pickups. Its possible cars were painted a very similar shade of this color for the exterior and pickups could have been special ordered with the same exterior color, but were talking standard issue colors in this case. Exterior colors were never used on interior's of pickups, even though the same name ( fawn) was used on both. Especially confusing is when 1964 exterior fawn is a lighter shade than 1965 exterior fawn, GM pulled the same stunt on exterior light green. 1964 and 1965 light green is a different shade than 1966 light green. Same name, different colors! Beware paint charts are year specific, don't mix and match paint names for different years!

Here is a company that has the name Fawn Metallic. Don't know how close or if it even is to the original. https://www.shop.thecoatingstore.com...345-BCCKIT.htm

The paint chips back then were actually ink not paint. The color will be somewhat off.
